“Organize Email Inbox. Now. Help Please!” I recently received an email from a friend that was complaining about the fact that he has so many emails in his inbox that he cannot find what he is looking for.
I have been working with people who have the same problem and we have come up with a simple solution to the problem of organizing your email inbox.
Organize Email – Technique 1
The solution is to set up a folder in your email program called “Inbox” and then move all of your incoming emails into this folder. You will now be able to quickly find any email you want by searching through your Inbox folder.
I am going to assume that you have more than one email account. If you only have one email account then you can just create a new folder and call it “Inbox”. This will allow you to search through the new folder instead of having to go through all of your other folders.
Organize Your Email Inbox – Technique 2
Once you have set up your Inbox folder, you need to decide how you are going to handle your emails. You can either use the default behavior of your email program or you can decide to delete emails after a certain period of time. The advantage of using the default behavior is that if you do not read an email you will not have to worry about deleting it. The disadvantage is that if you do not keep up with your email you will get overwhelmed with emails that you do not want to read.
If you decide to delete emails after a specified period of time you will not have to worry as much about getting rid of old emails because they will be automatically deleted. The disadvantage of this method is that you may not realize that you have a lot of emails until you start deleting them.
I have found that the best way to organize your email is to use both of these methods. When I receive an email I will usually open it immediately and then delete it at some point later. I also have a folder called “Unread” where I put all of the emails that I do not yet want to read. This way I am able to easily find what I am looking for without having to spend a lot of time reading emails that I already know.
Organize Email Inbox – The Easy Way
That brings us to the unfortunate confession I must make. I'm lazy.
Luckily, there is a third technique for organizing an email inbox that makes everything a lot cleaner… and requires less effort.
Here it is… drumroll…. there is a nice service to clean your email inbox here. Ahhhh, relief!
